All researchers of the Unit specialize in specific historical periods. This expertise is the foundation on which coherent research teams are formed; they usually cooperate in the completion of chronologically and thematically defined research projects. These teams are the bases for the future more formally organized departments.
Experience to date has shown a significant fluctuation of research staff in the Unit, and thus certain research sections (teams) experience great and frequent changes in the number of members. Currently, the best organized is the team of researchers working on the 19th century. Comparatively satisfying is the research team occupied with the 18th and 20th century, nevertheless, a reinforcement of each team would be advantageous. The research team specialising in the Ottoman period (16th to 17th century) lacks sufficient researchers; for the Antiquity (ancient history), there are at present no specialized researchers in the Unit.

Early Modern Period II (18th Century)
