SCRINIA SLAVONICA, annual review of the Croatian Institute of History, Department for the History of Slavonia, Srijem and Baranja (in Slavonski Brod, Croatia), publishes articles dealing with the history of North-Eastern Croatia, comprising the following historical regions: Slavonia (in the modern geographical sense of this term), Srijem or Syrmia, and the Croatian part of Baranja \/ Baranya.<\/span><\/p>\n

SCRINIA SLAVONICA aims at promoting regional history of Slavonia and its adjacent historically connected regions as a meaningful frame for a productive and diversified historical research. It accepts both in-depth research contributions and articles of synthesis or recapitulation (review articles), as well as editions of relevant source texts in limited selections. Besides that, a part of the review\u2019s space is dedicated to works on broader theoretical or methodological issues, primarily those applicable to specific regional research projects. Finally, articles in translation and book reviews are intended to help Croatian historians in their continuous following of historiographical developments and interesting events in the countries neighbouring Slavonia, i. e. Hungary, Serbia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina. These countries constitute an area which was encompassed in the course of past centuries by various structures of mutual connection and relationship. This largely common past results naturally in an overlap of interests (while not necessarily in unanimous interpretations) of present-day historiographies in Croatia and the neighbouring countries, which in turn requires communication, a sharing of knowledge, cooperation and a well- founded dialogue.<\/span><\/p>\n

The journal has been published since 2001. Since 2011, by decision of the National Science Council, the journal has been listed in Group A1 in the list of categorized domestic journals in the humanities.<\/span>

The Editorial Board of SCRINIA SLAVONICA accepts all papers that haven\u2019t previously been published elsewhere. Accepted texts must be of a quality that meets the professional standards of the journal.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Editorial Board provides two (exceptionally three) independent peer reviews for each scientific paper that undergoes editorial evaluation. SCRINIA SLAVONICA applies the double-blind review process common in the humanities, in which the editor doesn\u2019t disclose the identity of the author to the reviewer nor vice versa. Editor-in-chief or the Editorial Board may reject an article without external review if they believe the topic of the article lies outside the focus of the journal, if the author clearly doesn\u2019t respect ethic norms, if the article is of evidently poor quality, or if it doesn\u2019t meet the minimal technical conditions for being accepted in a scholarly journal. Authors will be informed of the results of the review process, and are obliged to revise their article according to any suggestions, demands, and critiques made by the reviewers and editors (and mark all such changes if asked to do so). The revised texts will be made available to the reviewers upon their request. Reviewers give their opinion about the quality of the manuscript and suggest a category for the article, while the final decision regarding the article\u2019s category is made by the Editorial Board, based on the Editor-in-chief\u2019s and reviewers\u2019 suggestions. Apart from peer-reviewed papers and book and journal reviews, SCRINIA SLAVONICA also publishes other contributions, such as conference and exhibition reports, obituaries, polemics, notifications, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n
