Aside from the scholarly research work, scholarly publishing is the second most important aspect of work of the Unit for the History of Slavonia, Syrmia and Baranya.
The first book, a reprint of selected studies of Matija Mesić, was published by the Unit in 1996, in the year of its establishment. Since then, overall, nearly a hundred books (monographs, collective volumes etc.) have been published by the Unit. One third of the books were published by the Unit alone, while the Unit was joint publisher of the other two thirds with other research and cultural institutions and commercial publishers.
At its very beginnings the Unit established its comprehensive publication series Bibliotheca Croatica: Slavonica, Sirmiensia et Baranyensia, under which imprint the majority of the publications have come out. The series is divided into sections: Studies, Sources, Special Editions, Small Collection, Manuscripts, Reprints, and the thematic sequences Ethnic Topics, World War II – Documents, the Croatian Democratic Movement and the Homeland War, and Documents from the Croatian Democratic Movement and Homeland War – Documents.
